Scholarship Contests

Scholarship Contests are created by corporations and foundations both as good works and as means of publicity. The best news is, you often don’t have to qualify based on your grades or on some exceptional skill — you just have to enter and hope you get lucky. Who cares if it’s a publicity stunt — if it helps you go to college, it’s worth a shot.

Here are some currently available contests along with the deadline for entering (from earliest deadline to latest) and a link to the site where you can learn more and submit an application. We have gone to each of the sites to verify the existence and the deadline for the contest described, but we can’t guarantee that you will win or vouch for the sponsors of specific contests:

Current Contests

Some scholarship contests require special talent or a fairly high GPA, but plenty of others are based just on luck! Youjust have to apply a little energy, follow the rules, and submit your entry before the deadline. We've summarized some currently open contests below. Take a look at the requirements, note the deadline, and go for it. The more you enter, the greater your chance of winning one if not more!

Each summary below notes the deadline for applying or entering, gives a brief description, and provides a link to the relevant site. We've visited each of these sites to verify their existence and to confirm the applicaton deadline; we cannot gaurantee that you will win or vouch for any particular site. Good luck! - $1,000 GPA Isn't Everything Scholarship Sweepstakes From their web site: “Cappex is awarding scholarships every month up to $50,000 in 2011.Tell us about yourself and don't hold back in the form below to be eligible for the $1,000 A GPA Isn’t Everything Scholarship - Winter I! This scholarship opportunity will be available at any college or university. Applications accepted for a limited time so Apply NOW!” Note: deadline for the current drawing is July 31, 2011, but check back regularly as have drawings throughout the year. March Madnezz ‘Sweet Diggity Dawg’ $20,000 Scholarship From their web site: “If you are new to Zinch, this is our longest running and most prestigious scholarship award. Each year semi-finalists are selected for this scholarship based on their Zinch profile. The semi-finalists then compete, March Madnezz style, in a bracket of 64 students. Students go head-to-head, with the best Zinch profile advancing, until only one student remains claiming the $20,000 scholarship.” Restrictions : Current high school student graduating in 2011, 2012, 2013, or 2014. You must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. International students ARE eligible for the scholarship. Your Zinch profile must be over 80% complete. Deadline: January 15, 2012 Sweet Diggity Dawg Contest.

American Fire Sprinkler Association The AFSA believes in education and training and wants you to know what happens when there is a fire and fire sprinklers are present. They are sponsoring two scholarship contests. The High School Senior $20,000 Scholarship Contest is for current high school seniors graduating in 2011 and going to college. AFSA will award ten $2000 scholarships and to enter all you have to do is fill out their registration form, read an essay, then take a short multiple-choice test about the information in the essay — and you may print out the essay and use it during the online quiz! You win entries for every correct answer, and get another chance on questions you get wrong! This contest ended in April 2011, but the Second Chance contest is still running - read on!

The second contest is the “Second Chance $5000 Scholarship Contest”. This one is for those who have graduated high school or the equivalency exam and are planning to go to college or a certified trade school. AFSA will offer five $1000 scholarship, same procedures and deadline as the first contest. You still have a chance to win as entries will be accespted until August 24, 2011.American Fire Sprinkler Association Contests

Suntrust.Com - Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes Note: this contest is free to enter and eligibility is NOT based on your GPA or financial need! From their web site: “SunTrust is pleased to offer the Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes where students can win a $1,000 scholarship for education expenses at an accredited college or private career school. If you are a high school senior planning to attend college or a current college student who will be continuing their undergraduate studies in the fall of 2012, you are eligible to enter our sweepstakes. Fifteen drawings will be held and one winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 28, 2011 through May 11, 2012. Winners' checks will be made payable to winner’s college of attendance” Suntrust Scholarship Sweepstakes

Quick Steps to a $2,000 Scholarship Entry Restrictions : 18+ US; Next Drawing: 12-15-2011 Details: Fill out an entry form and view some of this outfit's sponsors, then confirm your entry. You will have to provide your name, email, cell phone number, and create a username and password.
